Bloomsday Reading
About the event
16th of June 1904 is a date Joyce readers know well and celebrate: on that date, the Ulysses novel unfolds over the course of twenty-four hours. Its hero, Leopold Bloom, an ad salesman, is a cosmopolitan, mitteleuropa character, of vague Jewish origins, yet appears in the literary landscape of the XXth century as the only Jewish character written by a non-Jewish author.
ASF collaborator Yves Seban will read excerpts of Joyce’s texts in English, and in the Italian translations by late author/translator Luigi Schenoni.
